Is there really a free tier with no credit card?

Yes. 1,000 rows per match, 5 matches per month, 50 MB of storage, no expiration, no card required. If the product is useful, you upgrade. If not, you don't.

What file formats do you support?

CSV, Excel (.xlsx and .xls), and tab-separated files. The Genie also handles the quirky character encoding that Excel often adds when you 'Save As CSV' — files from any spreadsheet tool should just work without reformatting.

How good is the matching really?

Accepted Answer

Very. The Genie handles the hard cases spreadsheets can't — 'Robert' vs 'Bob', 'Smith' vs 'Smyth', 'Main Street' vs 'Main St', missing middle initials, typos, inconsistent phone formatting, and names that sound alike but are spelled differently. It's built for real customer data, not the clean test files you see in demos. Works out of the box for 20 regions — US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Mexico, and Brazil — with native handling of each country's addresses, phone numbers, diacritics, and naming conventions (Spanish two-surname, Dutch van der particle, German umlaut handling, Brazilian Portuguese particle matching).

Will my data be used to train AI models?

Accepted Answer

No. We never train on your data. When the Genie writes a report narrative, it only sees aggregate statistics — row counts, match rates, distributions — never individual people or records. Your files stay in encrypted storage in your chosen region, separated per account, and we delete everything on request.

Question 5

How do you handle data for European customers?

Accepted Answer

If you pick Europe when you sign up, every file you upload is stored on servers physically located in the EU (Frankfurt region). We never copy the data to servers outside the EU. From your account settings, you can download a complete export of everything we have on you (this is what GDPR calls a Data Subject Access Request, or DSAR), and deleting your account is a one-click permanent wipe of all files and account data.

Does ListMatchGenie work for non-US customer data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Twenty regions are supported today with native handling of each country's naming conventions, postal codes, and diacritics: US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Mexico, and Brazil. Each region has validated handling of particles (von, de la, da Silva), compound surnames, diacritics, and local postal-code formats.

What about Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Arabic names?

CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) and right-to-left scripts (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian) are on our roadmap but not yet in the product. They present unique engineering challenges — name-order conventions, transliteration ambiguity, script composition — that deserve dedicated product work rather than a rushed implementation. We'll ship support when we can do it as well as we handle the current 20 regions. Indic languages (Hindi, Bengali, Tamil), Thai, Vietnamese, and Finnish are also on the roadmap.

Can it handle Spanish files where one column has the full name with 4 or 5 parts?

Yes. Spanish and Portuguese files frequently have a single column containing 4–5 name tokens (e.g. María Isabel García López Hernández). The engine recognizes this pattern, identifies which tokens are given names vs. paternal/maternal surnames, handles particles (de la, del), and matches correctly against a master file with separate first_name and last_name columns.

Does the engine understand two-surname conventions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Spanish and LatAm customer lists typically use paternal + maternal surnames (García López). The engine treats the paternal surname as the primary match key while using the maternal surname as a secondary signal — so María García in one file matches María García López in another without false positives.

What about regional diacritics — umlauts, accents, Scandinavian Å/Ø/Æ?

Handled region-by-region. German ä/ö/ü/ß fold per convention (Müller ↔ Mueller). French and Spanish accents fold to base characters (García ↔ Garcia). Scandinavian Å/Ø/Æ use region-appropriate conventions (Åke ↔ Ake in Swedish; Søren ↔ Soren in Danish). Polish ł/ń/ś/ż fold cleanly. Each region module ships with a validated diacritic-fold table.

What happens when I hit my plan cap?

We'll warn you at 85% of any limit, and new jobs that would exceed your cap are blocked with a clear upgrade prompt. No overage charges, no surprise bills. You only ever pay your monthly subscription.

Question 12

Can I export reports to PowerPoint?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on the Business plan. The Genie produces a 6-slide deck with a title page, data quality overview, match summary, score distribution chart, top contributing fields, and an AI-written key findings slide. The deck is branded with your team's logo and colors if you set them in account settings.
