File size and row limits

Every tier has caps on file size, row count, column count, and how many files you can keep. This page lists every limit, in one table.

ListMatchGenie enforces hard caps on the size of files you can upload and match. Caps are tier-based — the higher your plan, the larger files you can process. This page lists every limit in one place.

If you're hitting a cap, you'll see a clear error at upload time (no silent truncation). The error always includes an upgrade link if upgrading would resolve it.

How caps are measured

Rows

A row is any non-header data row in the uploaded file, after cleansing removes exact duplicates but before fuzzy deduplication. So a 1,100-row file with 100 exact duplicates counts as 1,000 rows toward your limit.

File size

The bytes of the file as uploaded. Compression (e.g. zipped XLSX) reduces size — uncompressed CSVs are generally larger per row than XLSX equivalents.

Columns

Every column in the header row counts, including columns full of nulls. Prune unused columns before upload to save headroom.

Storage

The sum of bytes stored for all your files (master + source, every version). Deleting a master file frees its storage; replacing a master with a new version keeps old versions for 30 days (or your tier's version-retention window).

What happens at the cap

  • Upload cap — the file is rejected at upload with a specific error. Nothing is stored.
  • Match-jobs-per-month cap — matches beyond the cap fail with a "quota exceeded" error. The billing period resets on your subscription anniversary date.
  • Storage cap — uploads fail until you free space or upgrade.
  • AI questions cap — questions beyond the cap return a "quota exceeded" message instead of an answer. Quota resets monthly.

Reaching a cap mid-run

Some operations can cross a cap mid-run. Handling:

  • Match job that would push you over monthly job count — fails at queue time with a clear error.
  • Upload that would push storage over the cap — rejected at upload.
  • Report generation that would push AI questions over the cap — the report generates without follow-ups enabled, with a banner explaining.

Free tier specifics

The Free tier is genuinely free (no credit card required) but is intentionally limited:

  • 1,000 source rows is enough to evaluate or do occasional small jobs
  • 5 match jobs per month is enough for periodic use but not daily
  • No PDF/PPTX exports, no reports, no team members, no shareable links

Upgrading to Starter ($29/mo) removes most friction for regular use.
