Legacy feature
Insights is superseded by Reports. Reports offer the same Genie Q&A capability plus structured pre-generated content (executive summary, pivots, charts, key findings) — all in one shareable document. New AI conversations should start from a report. This page documents the legacy feature for users with existing Insights threads.
What Insights was
The Insights feature was a free-form AI chat attached to each match job. You'd open an insights conversation, ask the Genie a question, get an answer (sometimes with a chart), and ask follow-ups. Each conversation lived as a separate page.
The limitation: every Insights conversation started from a blank slate. There was no pre-generated summary, no structured pivots, no executive overview — just you and the Genie typing back and forth.
Why Reports replaced it
Reports do everything Insights did, plus:
- A structured narrative before the Q&A, so you have context
- Pre-computed pivots and charts you don't have to ask for
- One shareable artifact per match instead of a scrollable chat
- Better export formats (PDF, PPTX, HTML)
The Q&A at the bottom of a report is functionally identical to Insights — same model, same quota, same capabilities. It just has more context to work from, which produces better answers.
What still works in Insights
Existing Insights conversations keep working:
- Open any past conversation from the Insights list page
- Continue chatting (AI questions still count against your monthly quota)
- Export the conversation as text or PDF
- Share the conversation via tokenized link (same mechanism as report shares)
No existing conversation will be deleted or migrated without your action.
Migrating an insights thread to a report
To move an Insights conversation to a report:
- Open the job associated with the Insights thread
- Generate a report
- (Optional) Copy-paste any key questions from Insights into the report's follow-up Q&A
- Use the report going forward; let Insights lapse
The Insights thread remains in your account history — no deletion is triggered.
New users should skip Insights
If you're new to ListMatchGenie, you'll see an amber info banner on the Insights page pointing to Reports. The New Insight button is removed for new accounts. Existing users with past threads still see the old UI to manage those threads.
